Born John Edgar Hubble in Santa Barbara. Active in small groups of Traditional and Early Jazz. Played with Bob Wilber, Billy Maxted, Phil Napoleon, Don Ewell, Eddie Condon, James P. Johnson and The Dukes of Dixieland. Appearances with Dick Wellstood, Kenny Davern, Billy Butterfield, Bobby Hackett, Scott Hamilton, "Hot Lips" Page, and more. Jobbed around New York with Max Kaminsky and played at Jimmy Ryan's and Eddie Condon's.

Ed joined The World's Greatest Jazz Band in 1969 with Hank Lawson, Bob Haggart, Ralph Sutton, Bud Freeman, Vic Dickenson, Billy Butterfield and others. Toured Scotland, England, Alaska, South America and Europe. Festivals and Clubs in Europe. Joined Kings of Jazz with Pee Wee Erwin, Kenny Davern, Cliff Leeman, Major Holley and others. NYJRC Tribute to Louis Armstrong.

Moved to Poughkeepsie, NY with Johnny Windhurst mid '70s, then to upstate NY area for a spell. After a time, joined Jim Cullum's Jazz Band in Texas. Returned to upstate NY, accepting one nighters with Doc Cheatham, Ken Peplowski, Joe Muranyi, Red Balaban, Devern, others....
